Dr. John is the best dentist in OC. He is very thorough and honest! I have been his patient for years and continue to refer my family and friends. Everyone is extremely happy with the care he provides us. Halyna is an excellent dental hygienist. Best teeth cleaning you will ever experience.

I came to Coastal Family Dental after not having the best experience with another office in the area and wow I was super happy with the experience I got! Starting with calling the office to make an appointment and get more info about insurance coverage everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful. I let them know I wasn’t sure if I would get my past X-ray records in time for the appointment and the person on the phone was super nice. They offered to and did call the other office for me and reassured me that it would be okay if I didn’t have the records. At the actual visit Dr. Nguyen spent time explaining to me what it was he was looking for to determine the health of my gums and took time to go through my concerns with me. I had quite a few questions about my overall mouth health and Dr. Nguyen never made me feel like I was asking too many questions or dismissed anything I was worried about. He gave me all the information I needed in order to get a grasp on what I should do moving forward. I’m looking forward to coming here for my future cleanings!

Too many reminders both text and phone calls. Reception unable to confirm my insurance. The dentist called me in but then closed the door in my face. My insurance is good and I even offered to pay cash or use a credit card. I left without my tooth cleaning. Time to find a new dentist. Lesson, don't make an appointment on a Monday.

I've been meaning to write a review for a while, but life got busy. However, I'll never forget the exceptional service and friendly personable staff here. Dr. John Nguyen and Melissa took care of my oral health, provided lots of updated education on my conditions, were gentle with my sensitive gums & teeth as well as were extremely personable. They even give you sunglasses for the bright lights--never seen any dental or medical provider so absolutely considerate of clients' needs! I wish I could return, but my insurance had changed. Definitely going back if I could!

I went in the other day for x-rays and to get a tooth checked. This by far has to be the most chill vibe I've ever had going into a Dental office. The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive. Dr. Nguyen is the coolest. He knows what he's doing and is so knowledgeable about his craft that he could teach video course on it! I'm definitely coming back here.

I've been going to the same family dentist since I was a kid and I finally decided to switch because I didn't like how my gums were always swollen and bleeding after the every visit. I found this office after searching for a good dental office on google. Although this office is a little bit of a farther drive for me, I don't mind being stuck in traffic for the quality care I'm receiving. I wish I had switched to them sooner. Great attention and service. Dr. John explains everything everything thoroughly and came up with a detailed treatment plan for my needs. The front desk were very friendly and helpful in explaining the cost and what the insurance is estimated to cover and my patient portion. The professionalism and friendliness of the whole team is outstanding. I highly recommend this office if you are looking for a high quality care office that treats you like family.

I saw Dr. Nguyen a few years ago and I liked the service he did but I since moved away. I moved back to the area a few months ago and I went to him to get a service done. The office made me pay out of packet though I have insurance and they said they will submit documents to my insurance so I can get reimbursed. I was told this process will be taken care of within 15 days from day of service. My insurance called them before I paid and office reassured them and myself that they will get the necessary documents so process will be smooth. It has been over two months and this matter has not been resolved. The office won’t answer my calls and when my insurance call them right after I call, they would answer. My insurance keep asking them to provide the documents so I can reimbursed. The office will tell them the documents will be filled right away and will be sent to them but this does not get done. My insurance gave them fax and mail options to provide documents but it has been empty words. They keep telling my insurance this will be done right away each call and they have called them at least 4 times but it has been over two months and my insurance has yet to receive correct form so they can get paid and I get my refund from the office. Unacceptable, waste of my time and such a hassle. They should have never charged me but they wouldn’t see me until I agree I would pay out of packet. Now I know that was shady and they should’ve just billed my insurance. Makes me think they never had a plans to charge my insurance. Very disappointed and I would give 0 stars if I could based on this experience.

Just had another great cleaning with Helena. She is very attentive, gentle and pleasant. And wow she seems to remember everything we talk about even if it’s doesn’t pertain to my teeth. Lol. I wish I had that great of memory. I love my hygienist. Oh, Dr John is great too but I didn’t need to see him yesterday. Staff is wonderful and I never have to wait too long.

We started going to Dr. Nguyen about six months ago he is very professional and super nice. I took my son there because he was highly recommended by a friend. My son as a child had a very bad experience but Dr. John made him feel comfortable and he was so patient with him. His office is clean and all his staff is great. Now our whole family are patients with Dr. Nguyen.

I’ve been going to this place the last 2 years, and they’re amazing. The staff is always nice and helpful. I get a little bit of anxiety going to the dentist, they offer to play music during your cleaning which helps. Just got my teeth clean yesterday and they feel so good! I just got finished with my Invisalign treatment here at Coastal Family Dental not too long ago and I get so many compliments on how beautiful my teeth are. :D The Hygienist Halyna also does an amazing job in cleaning my teeth. She also educates me and leaves my teeth looking really white! (: Halyna always puts on my favorite music during my cleanings which definitely take the ease off. Had two implants done here. Dr Miao did a good job putting my implant in and Dr John made me a nice tooth on top. They go out of their way to give you the best treatment. Good job!

I went for a teeth cleaning and check up since it had been years since I had been to a dentist. Elizabeth at the front desk is so awesome and friendly, Marissa the hygienist was so sweet and light handed and made sure I was ok throughout my cleaning and Dr. John Nguyen is so easy to talk to and explained everything. He really cares about his patients and understood money is tight. He didn't try to upsell and just really wanted to help. I voiced my interest in Invisalign and they gave me a free consultation. The whole office is awesome. I would definitely recommend. P.s. I don't have dental insurance and their rates are more on the affordable side with great service!

I had chipped a tooth. We had heard good things about Dr. Nguyen, so I called Coastal Family Dental the next morning, and Elizabeth scheduled me to see Dr. Nguyen that same day! Dr. Nguyen took me in immediately after I arrived. The work he did on my tooth was outstanding, and the whole staff was very friendly and efficient. Also, the cost was very fair. My wife and I will be using Dr. Nguyen from now on.

I was very impressed by Dr. John. He seems very competent and knowledgeable, plus very likable. Also, when I had a gold crown replaced, he helped me get reimbursed for the gold! No dentist has EVER done that before!

The people here are extremely friendly. The dentist was able to explain a condition in my throat that an Throat MD specialist could not. My teeth came out as clean or better than any other dentist. Changing my dentist as soon as my company allows me to go to a P.P.O. I am a teacher in this area and I broke one of my back teeth early in the morning. My normal dentist was closed and my tooth was throbbing. I was just calling anyone near me. This office had me in and out in no time! I only had an HMO so my insurance didn’t cover the services, but they gave me a more than fair bill. I’m scared to death of going to the dentist but the staff and I laughed the whole time. The Dr. was very patient and caring. I can’t wait to get my whole family in here. I was so happy and satisfied that one of my co-workers are now going to change to this dentist. Here's why: Great staff: friendly, personable, professional, knowledgeable - I immediately felt comfortable walking in this place as if I were a current patient. The lady in the front was very friendly and personable, making small talk and offering complimentary beverages. I completed the new patient forms and waited about a minute or so before receiving my teeth cleaning. - Halyna was the hygienist that did my teeth cleaning. She's GREAT! Super knowledgeable in how to care for the teeth and provided suggestions on what I could do to continue to care for my teeth. She walked me through the complete treatment and asked how I was doing throughout (pain-free!!) - The other lady who completed my x-ray was awesome too! Very friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable, as she knows how discomforting it is and completed each snap shot quick. - Dr. John was very professional, informative, and took great care of my teeth. Provided me fillings that were pain free! Overall the office has a great atmosphere, clean, and is a great location that is close by. Highly recommended.

I came in last week as a new patient. Everyone gets nervous when it comes to the dentist, but everything went by so smoothly at Coastal Family Dental. The office administrators (Paul and Melissa) were so helpful when I needed to schedule, and they let me know that their new patient paperwork was available online if I wanted to complete it before I came into my appointment, which saved me some time. Once I got in, they checked me in and I probably waited no more than 5 minutes before Dr. Nguyen called me back. The whole appointment took about an hour, which was great, considering I was a new patient. Dr. Nguyen and his assistant, Victoria, worked very efficiently and let me know what he was doing every step of the way. You don't get many dentists, or doctors like that these days. Dr. Nguyen is definitely a doctor I can trust. Would definitely recommend Dr. Nguyen and his staff to care for your dental needs.

Coastal Family Dental is a rare gem. I am so happy to have found this place. I was badly in need of dental work when I came in. It had been a few years since I had seen a dentist, and I knew my teeth were gonna be a mess. Dr. John, Amber, and Vanessa all made me feel so welcome. Nobody gave me a hard time about my messed up teeth, and I never felt uncomfortable. Amber walked me through a detailed treatment plan and explained every part of the process. We planned out the next year or so of dental work that I need, and it is a huge weight off my shoulders now. I just came back from my fourth appointment there. I had to get two root canals and two crowns, and the process was almost completely painless. They take good care of you here.

Finally, a dentist you can trust! Dr. John was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He's very down-to-earth and makes sure you are well taken care of. The staff members here are awesome too--they are welcoming and provide great service with a smile. My hygienist was Halyna--she was gentle and walked me through each step of the cleaning. Updated: 10/9/2019 - A coworker recommended Dr Frank (previous Dr there). I continue to have my dental needs taken care of this office, now by Dr John and staff. They are always very nice, fast and professional. I HIGHLY Recommend him and his office! The IM Paste they recommended really helped.

First off, the two ladies in the front office are absolutely amazing. They are so genuine upon greeting, so helpful and flexible when it comes to assisting with finding out information about insurance, payments, etc. They are personable and so fun to talk to!! The dental assistant is hilarious & makes you feel comfortable. Most importantly, Dr. Frank is so sweet with awesome bedside manner & very well educated/knowledgeable about his work. I highly recommend going here for the experience and the amazing dentist, office staff, and dental assistants. :)

First time patient of Dr. Frank today and was very pleased from the start. His staff was great and Dr Frank was very strait forward about my dental needs with absolutely no BS. After being jerked around by 2 other dentists in Costa Mesa in the past year I would without a doubt recommend all of my family or friends to him. Wish I would have went with him from the start.

My boyfriend has been going here for over a year and I, on the other hand, had another dentist who I disliked very much. After taking his advise, I switched to Dr. Frank and my experience has been wonderful. The attention is personalized and the entire staff makes you feel at home.
