The overall service from dental professionals is positive however, the office staff does not properly accommodate for scheduling emergencies and issues with appointments. I will never recommend companies that charge an appointment cancellation fee especially when I give notice via text and by calling within the 24 hour window.

This was my 2nd cleaning. I was told that the doctor only checks your teeth once a year. My insurance covers a cleaning and exam every six months. I have never been to a dentist that has told me that an exam should only be done once a year. I just hope you’re not billing my insurance as a cleaning and exam. We will see what the EOB says. That’s not the only thing. The cleaning was not done with a high pressures water pick like last time. She only scrapped my teeth a little, polished and then I was done. I don’t remember how long it has been since I only got my teeth cleaned that way but it been over 5 years. I just wish my old dentist took my new insurance. I would go back to her. I will be calling Alight, letting them know my experience and asking them to review my EOB then asking them to provide me with a new dental office that has higher quality of care. Not impressed at all. My family and I won’t be back.
So sorry your visit did not meet your expectation. Our dentist determines the frequency of exams for our patients; however, our patients are always welcome to request a more frequent dental exam. EDIT: Well here we are a month later and my son is back at school in Wisconsin and was in excruciating pain. He went to a dentist up in Milwaukee and was told he needs a root canal due to a bad filling. This cost to my family, time off his running on his xc team, and stress is all due to the fact that this office blew off his concerns. My college age son went in for his six month cleaning. When he mentioned he was still having a lot of sensitivity from his cavities being filled in the summer, the hygienist brushed it off as normal and off handedly mentioned there was a hole in his filling? With a mouth full of tools and not being one to be confrontational, he did not follow up and came home. I only found out when I asked about his appointment. The hygienist also said his permanent retainers were broken. However, he never felt them broken until after the appointment. Also, nothing was mentioned about them even wearing down or being close to breaking at his last appointment six months ago. I feel the staff was rushed during the holiday slam and did not do their best work.

I raised a concern about a tiny chip in my tooth that bothered me and she notified Dr. Caffey-Earle even though I was only there for a cleaning. For my first visit, everyone cheerfully greeted me and made me feel welcome. Madison did a great job with a careful and gentle cleaning as well as x-rays that were completed in the same room. I didn't have any dental issues to fix, so it was just a cleaning this time. Not knowing me yet, the dentist noted that I likely grind my teeth as some wear is evident, but this wasn't news to me. It's good that she mentioned it because, though I have a mouthguard for sleeping, someone else may need to be informed of this issue so that damage can be avoided. The appointment was kept on time and it was overall a very good experience.

I have been a patient at this practice since 2005. Dr. Caffey-Earle is top notch in her field and Angela is my favorite, one & only, hygienist. There were times throughout the years that I wanted to leave because the office staff and team manager were very rude and unprofessional, however, I stayed only because of Dr. Caffey-Earle and Angela who I trust completely. In the last few years, they have weeded out the “old” and brought in a truly caring & professional team. Good employees are hard to find and keep and this entire office and medical team deserve 10 stars!

Dr. Seiber checked my tooth to find that I needed a root canal. She spoke with her colleagues set up an appointment to get me in a few hours later before I had to go out of town. I give praise to the entire team.

Our policy for last minute cancelations and no-shows are there to help those same technicians get paid when they don't have someone's teeth to clean. We go above and beyond trying to confirm dental appointments and give patients opportunities to respond and cancel or reschedule their appointments. These include automated reminders as well as phone messages for those not confirmed. We do understand that things happen which is why we have a first-time grace period with no charges. First visit - greeted me as soon as I came in, dental hygienist called me to the back, she was super friendly, walked me through every part of the process, detailed, took a full set of X-rays and did it rather quickly and efficient!, and was very gentle while cleaning my teeth. My wife and I have been going to Smiles By Design for at least 20 years, and recently relocated out of state. We found a new dentist, and I as well as my new dentist office contacted Bright Smiles to get our records. The ONLY thing that was sent were basic bitewing x-rays that were out of date. My new dentist requested both panoramic as well as a set of full x-rays that were done in 2019. My insurance only allows for these once every 5 years, so when Bright Smiles did not provide them or a record of them being taken, our new dentist took both, and now I am out of pocket a substantial amount of money because Bright Smiles would not either provide them or a record of them being taken. I personally contacted the office multiple times and was met with the same response, ie, we do not provide this information unless asked for, which it was by both me and my new dentist office. I cannot comprehend why Bright Smiles was SO shortsighted, and completely ignored my rights as a patient to provide what was asked for. If I could give zero stars for this review, I would.
Hey John, thanks so much for reaching out. Yes as a normal course of business when patients transfer offices, the most recent xrays are sent. If additional xrays need to be sent, the office or patient can request those additional xrays even if they are several years old. We are always happy to send those at no charge and do so on a regular basis. In addition, most dental offices don't force patients to have services provided rather they are given the option prior to receiving services so that they are able to make an informed decision. I hope your new office gave you the same standard of care you were used to here at our office. We are always sad to see patients leave but wish you well in your new endeavors.

I went for a second opinion and was very impressed by how nice and friendly everyone was. I have a lot of dental work that needs to be done and really appreciated the time the dentist and staff took with me. I was given a lot of information that made sense and now have a great plan of what needs to done. I was able to get an appointment within a couple of days which I really appreciated. I visited this office to get a few cavities filled that my previous dentist didn’t take care of. They had to split them into two appointments. The first appointment went so well. Dr. Caffey-Earle and the assistant were so nice and helpful. I just came back for my second visit and I don’t know what happened but the experience wasn’t the same. There was some tension between the dentist and assistant. They did not seem very collaborated. It felt like they had something they needed to hash out. The tension they had towards each other eventually shifted to me as they got frustrated with by inability to control my tongue. I was numbed pretty well and was completely unaware that my tongue was getting in their way. As a person studying to be in the dental field, I know that the patient cannot control their tongue and that frustration shouldn’t be taken out on them. Anyways, I hope the dentist and assistant work out their troubles and hopefully avoid that tension from inflicting on another patient’s experience.
I'm so sorry that your experience wasn't what you expected. I guess you received service from real life people. We have problems just like everyone else and you probably witnessed that today. I'm sorry you didn't experience our best bedside manner but you did experience great clinical work as we stand behind our doctors. No one is perfect but I can assure you that we do try to give our patients a great clinical result, and you can see from our other reviews that we do a great job overall. Again I'm sorry that your visit wasn't a 5-star experience but we will certainly strive to give you one during your next visit if you so choose.

The staff and team at Smiles by Design are very courteous and professional. I was in for a routine cleaning and all went well with this exception- The dentist noticed a chiped tooth in a rear molar and left untreated, could lead to a cavity and other problems. Her recommendation was for a porcelain crown. My insurance company says that the resonable fee for this work is $369 and they will pay all of that cost to the dentist. That part sounds fair. The dentist however wants to charge me $928 for this procedure! How can the dentist and my insurance company be so far off? If I have the work done at Smiles, I would have to come up with the difference of $559 total out-of-pocket. I used to pay a co-pay for a routine visit and if there was anything that came up requiring something major, my old dentist (from another state) would take what the insurer was willing to pay as fair and resonable. Looks like I am going to have to search for a new dentist.
Thanks so much for the feedback. We appreciate the opportunity to help clarify and educate our patients on this complex subject of insurance. As with most insurance plans, there are different levels of benefits depending on what treatment you need. Some benefit levels don't require the patient to pay any out-of-pocket whereas some services require you to pay as much as 50-60% of the total cost as in this case. So when you say that we "are charging you an amount above what they say is reasonable", we are actually charging the contracted rate for those services. The insurance plan is requiring you to pay the remaining amount as would any other in-network dentist. We will certainly reach out to you to clarify your specific circumstances. Thanks again!

Excellent treatment and professionalism but it took 9 weeks for me to get some crowns, I have the problem that at my job they are not giving permissions so easily. I have to have my appointments at 4 in the afternoon... and when I called to ask for another appointment because we have to refine the position of one of my teeth that is rubbing against another tooth, they gave me an appointment within a month... God willing, it will take 13 weeks to finish my treatment. I think that is a long time to install some crowns. I will consider changing my rating if I can move my appointment to a closer date because it has been more than 9 weeks since I have been able to chew my food well… Excellent treatment and professionalism but it took 9 weeks for them to put some crowns on me, I have the problem that in my work they are not giving permits so easily. We are so sorry that we haven't met your expectations. As you know for custom crowns, we want to make sure that everything is perfect. Since our crowns are made in a lab, we sometimes have to send them back to correct minor issues with shading or shape. We apologize for the length of time for finding an appointment that works with your schedule, but we certainly want you to look your best! Thanks for being a valued patient.

I would highly recommend Dr. Christy Caffey-Earle. She is a great dentist, gentle but thorough. I have used Dr. Caffey-Earle for 8+ years now. Making an appointment is very easy and usually available within 1 or 2 days. The hygienist explained everything she was going to do so you know what to expect. Dr. Caffey-Earle examines you x-rays and reviews her findings with you so you know exactly what was found and she gives you options on how to proceed.

I visited Smiles by Design to have a cavity filled in a hard to fix location, but the Dr felt she could fix it and save me the time and money of having to remove my tooth and replace it. After the repair I had some initial sensitivity to hot and cold which I thought would go away....it never did, after several weeks I visited the Dr again and in a few short minutes she fixed the issue and to my surprise...immediately no pain! A minor adjustment.She advised me not to wait next time to call for help. I'm a totally happy camper. Smiles by Design always does great work! And they care for their patients...thank you!

My experience was really good. It was my first time there and at first I wasn't sure how I was feeling about my visit as the lady doing my xray was struggling a bit but then she was able to get it done pretty quick with the panoramic machine. After that she examined me pretty quickly and the dentist came in and also examined my teeth. It was pretty easy visit also they cleaned my teeth while I was there so that was pretty awsome being able to do this on my first visit. Most dentists office make you come back for that. I would definitely recommend this office.

If there was a way to post a less than one star review I would definitely do that! I have never felt so disappointed in how a office has conducted their business in my entire life. I try not to write reviews even with sub par service because I believe everyone can have a bad day, but my experience was beyond that of a bad day. I was specific in what the appointment was for and I new what my concerns were. The dentist violated what I feel was a patient confidentiality concern as I was seeing a specific orthodontist in another city and without asking the name, it being a small town they found the only one and emailed them directly on a generic email. I know what your thinking, well duh....they typically share information, it was the way it was handled that was bothersome . It was not requested from them nor did I give the name of the office. I discussed exactly what I was doing and was told it would not be a problem as long as I understood the concerns, in which I did. I knew them before I entered the door! The appointment lasted two hours in which I saw the dentist and the hygienist. I later found out that for some reason in that two hours and after talking to everyone I did not have a full exam. They did not know if I even had a cavity or not or at least that what they told the Orthodontist. When I was there I was told that all look good other than the concerns I told them about when we started. When I look for personal service providers, I want a friendly staff, someone who is knowledgeable and has my best interest in mind. I knew the concerns, expressed them, told them my plan of action and I felt because I did not use their providers or use their timeline the dentist violated my trust. I would never use a dentist I did not trust or had faith in. This is just my experience and I felt bothered enough to write a review which is a lot for me. In all fairness, the dental hygienist was very pleasant and tried to do a good job.
I'm so sorry that your experience wasn't what you expected. You are correct that we do communicate with your other dental providers so that you get the best care. We are certainly willing to help you out however we can. Please let us know how we can best serve you.

Had an appointment for an exam. I had a bad tooth and knew it would need to be extracted. They brought me in, only xrayesbthe tooth I told them about and quoted me a price that was 3 times the amount I ended up paying to another dentist. I was in and out in about 8 minutes and they charged me $39 for that. Needless to say I won't be going back

Our general dentist was able to review your circumstances to diagnose and recommended a treatment that would resolve your problem. We also had our specialist available to treat you on the day of your appointment. I'm sorry to see you chose to seek treatment elsewhere, but I'm glad you were able to find a resolution to your problem that was in your budget. We would be happy to serve you in the future if the need arises.

I told my friends and family about my experience with Sophie in billing, and they also had a similarly horrid experience with her too. I don’t see a point in going into the issue here, as the office manager has time to reply to reviews, but can’t take a phone call or take a voicemail? That’s according to Sophie! I have a coworker that’d already pulled her and her kids from this office after I told them about how Sophie handles her job. The staff are great and my dentist was lovely. I would 100% come back to this office if they got a new insurance/billing person. I will not be coming back if the office manager replies to this. Sophie’s behavior was appalling for a place of business, and if the office manager is too busy to take a call, then I take it as a clear insult if they have time to reply to this review. Sid, you still have my email, so let me know when Sophie has moved on to another opportunity, and I’ll gladly bring my business back. It was THAT bad. Edit: Again, Sid, you have my email. Did a good job of cleaning my teeth wonderful staff except the lady that checked our insurance. We paid with a Cigna Plus Savings Card and paid the full amt due 6 months later they wanted more money I don't know what is wrong with them but the lady kept calling for 100 dollars 105 to be exact and then turned us into debt collections when I couldn't pay because I couldn't keep a job at that time but I even called after debt collections and the lady hung up. Not a very good place to go. They do a good job cleaning teeth but billing is not organized and does not know what they are doing and mow my credit might be ruined because of them billing me wrong when I paid in full. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE THEIR FULL INSURANCE WHICH THEY TOLD ME THEY TOOK MINE BUT MAKE SURE YOU PAY IN FULL AND ASK THEM ARE YOU SURE TEN TO FIFTEEN TIMES.

Dr. Earls staff is awesome! I recently decided to have some cosmetic work done (putting Porcelain Wraps on 8 of my upper teeth) and after consulting with 3 other Practices that specialized in this type of work, I chose to use Smiles by Design. For starters, you work with Amanda who walks you through the whole process. She is extremely knowledgable / friendly and cleary knows what she is doing. As this can be an overwhelming decision, knowing that Amanda had years of expertise in this area was very important to me. I then consulted with Dr. Seivers, who would actually do the work, and she made me feel like this is where I needed to be. Throughout the process (Which took about 30 days from start to finish), the whole staff looked after me and made me feel like I was "their most important patient". Once the work was completed, they were as excited as I was about my new smile. I would whole heartedly recommend, and trust, Smiles by Design to have this type of life changing work done on myself, my family or on anyone! Thanks again!

More focus placed on dental insurance than quality care. When a dentist discusses payment multiple times with billing, tries to bully a person into a cleaning and xrays to force them into being "your" patient, not providing minimal standards for a crown re-install- such as a bite check, cleaning the crown, etc. Promptly cancelled our first check up appointments with them for next week and will try elsewhere.
Ms. LaClair, I'm so sorry you weren't here during your husband's appointment to be able to meet you. We were so excited for the opportunity to meet both of you at your initial appointments later this month, but I'm very glad that we were able meet him sooner. Patient pain and dental issues are very important to us which is why we were able to see him within an hour of his call. We are very surprised to read your comment as he didn't mention any concerns during or after we resolved the reason for his visit. We do take and file insurance so it is important for us to understand how each policy is different and explain how that impacts your current visit. During my appointment it was recommended that I have a deep clean to review some excess plaque. Thanks to some prehistoric dental techniques employed by military dentists forty years ago, I avoided dentists for the next thirty years like watered-down whiskey and three-fingered IRS auditors. When the pain of a completely ruined and wrecked mouth became too much, per a recommendation, I was taken (kicking and screaming) to Dr. Caffey-Earle's practice. Her staff helped me off the floor and out of the thumb-sucking fetal position I was whimpering in, sat me down and literally started at Day One. No question I had was dumb, nobody mocked me, they took EXTRA care in not just managing my past dental experiences, but in making sure I was as comfortable as possible. To date, I've been seeing Dr. Caffey-Earle for probably fifteen years and will not even consider seeing another dentist. The damage done from thirty years of total absence in seeing any dentist cannot be undone and it is my fault. But she and her staff have prolonged my (eventual) need for dentures by many years, and for that I'll always be grateful and willing to sincerely recommend them without hesitation or question.

I am a 15 year patient. I have opted out of dental insurance and I have been paying in cash for my past several visits. Because I declined x-rays on my last visit, I feel I was given a substandard cleaning and no follow up appointment was offered as per their standard protocol. I chose this place because it's close to work, they accept my insurance, and they operate in the 21st century with the ability to confirm and make appointments by email and text and an actual functioning website--something that is surprisingly rare in the medical and dental fields. I've been going for around 5 years and I've never had a complaint. I've never needed major dental work because I take care of my teeth and brush and floss, so maybe my experience would be different if I needed some sort of surgery or filling. But I've gone for cleanings and X-rays twice a year and had a night guard made. I don't spend much time with the dentist and can not comment on her personality, but everyone in the office has always been courteous and been a big help when I needed to change an appointment. And I almost always have the same hygienist who is friendly and efficient when it comes to cleaning my teeth, taking X-Rays, and getting me out and on my way.

I went back and talked to them about dental payment options. The finance people really work with you to find the best and most money saving options for all procedures. They even have a monthly pay plan that includes cleanings, x rays, and consults along with 20% off procedures. Hygienist Jen is wonderful! She got stains off my teeth that I thought were permanent. The results then and the results of every visit since that time have been outstanding. The front office staff is always polite and accommodating. The hygienists are professional, thorough and friendly and explain what they're doing as they work. Finally, and most importantly, Dr. Caffey-Earle is a Christian professional who gives personal attention to her patients. Went in for 6 months cleaning. I was seen on time and the cleaning went off without a hitch. Typically, once the cleaning is done, the dentist comes in and looks over your mouth and does a little poking around. If there are no problems, they send you on your way. Dr. Caffey-Earle didn't even say hello to me. She walked into the room, looked at my chart and told the hygienist that I could leave. That's it. I hope that the hygienist knows her stuff and that I don't have any cavities or issues because it'll be another 6 months before I'm back.

I have only been to 1 dentist, but recently changed to Dr Caffey-Earle because the location of the dentist I had been going to was just to far and not feasible any longer. I chose to come to Dr Caffey based on a referral from a friend. It was a good referral in deed. I had to have two crowns done and had to have some old cavities refilled. I am very pleased with everything, she took the time to explain what needed to be done, she cares about the patient and gives you options to everything. I will continue going to her as will my husband.

They RUINED my tooth and were extremely unhelpful in all future communication of my attempts to fix it. I went in for a small filling for a back tooth that previously had felt perfectly fine. After the filling, my tooth was sore and then it kept aching - for weeks, making chewing anything on that side unbearable. I went back in and all they said they could do was a "take a look at it." After only 5 minutes of face time, they said it would be all fixed. Well, it's been two months, and I still can't chew anything on that side. Another doctor took x-rays and discovered the filling was sloppily done, leaving a piece of the filling hanging down near my gum. I am now having to get the filling replaced by a better DDS (which I'm having to pay for AGAIN, as Caffey won't refund me the charges from their poor work). The new DDS has warned that the tooth damage caused by Caffey's mistake might even require a crown or root canal, all of which I'd have to pay for of course. Do NOT go here.

Never in my life have I met such a impersonal person with a direct attitude towards anyone beneath her. Caffey-Earle has the worst chairside manner and her attitude towards people is down right horrible. My fillings with her were painful, her sympathy towards my care was non-existenet and the way she ordered the girl with her around was distastful. I will NEVER return to this office for anything. Also, being charged for nitrous when my insurance pays for it, that would be fraud. I will be filing a complaint with the insurance board Monday morning.
