When reading these reviews, please click on lowest ratings first. I’m not the only one who complained about this tactic that this company used. I literally used to brag on this dental office, but today’s visit was so off putting that I’m officially going to find another dentist. I’ve been going to Smiles for over 5 years at minimum. Something happened after Covid that has made this dental office so money hungry that their quality of care has gone down. They have been moving funny with the way they set up their cost for procedures and effectively informing their clients about dental cost. Today, I went in for a dental cleaning. I usually go every 3 months but recently, I’ve been so busy with work that I’ve waited over 6 mos to schedule an appointment. My last appointment was January 26, 2024. I went into the dental appointment at 1:30 and didn’t leave until 3, and didn’t even get the scheduled cleaning completed. After my X-rays and exam, the hygienist asked me about my tolerance level. She then asked me if I would like topical numb med or an injection. I was confused because I was just there for a normal cleaning. She then tells me that we are going to do a deep cleaning. At this point it was 2:45, and I had to inform her that I have to pick up my daughter at 4:00, so I don’t have time for a deep cleaning. I then asked her if we can do a regular cleaning and I schedule the deep cleaning for a later date. She said that they could not do that and I can just skip today’s scheduled cleaning, and schedule another appointment to do the deep cleaning at a later date. At this point, I’m annoyed because I’ve taken time off work to get a cleaning. Now, I’ve wasted almost two hours for nothing and I have to find another day to schedule a deep cleaning and fillings as well. So, I go to the front and the front desk staff gives me another “treatment plan” for the fillings and deep cleaning. I’m a little annoyed again because the deep cleaning states that I will have to pay out of pocket cost of $260. I then ask the front desk clerk, “had I agreed to stay and get the deep cleaning, I would have had to pay $260 and no one said anything???” When the hygienist asked about numbing medication, she didn’t once mentioned that I would have to pay additional out of pocket cost. It almost seemed as if she planned to just do the deep cleaning and then tell me about the cost later. My boyfriend, who I recommended this place too, has also had issues with them. When he would say that they were doing money schemes, I didn’t take him seriously because I’ve been going to them for years and had never had any issues. However, they have tried to get him on several occasions. They gave him a treatment plan and he agreed to get one part of the treatment done and do the other part later based on his budget. However, when he went to get the treatment, they did the entire procedure without him knowing and then charged him for the entire amount, which is not what they agreed to do. I am very disappointed and will no longer deal with this company. Deal with them at your own risk. It seems as if once they find out what your dental insurance is willing to pay, they take full advantage of it. Update: The owner responded suggesting that it’s been over a year since I’ve been to visit. My last appointment was January 2024 and before that it was November 10, 2023. There was no need for strong arming someone to either get what you want them to get or get nothing at all. It’s very unethical. Prayers that they receive the business that they deserve.
Shinika, We're saddened to hear your visit did not meet your expectations. When a patient comes in for a cleaning, we perform all the ADA / TSBDE required and recommended diagnostics to ensure a personalized and appropriate cleaning. What's found in these exams is what ultimately determines the type of cleaning he/she needs. In cases when we haven't seen a patient in over a year, it is hard to predict what will present in the exam. Unfortunately, when a patient needs a scaling and root-planing or "deep cleaning", a routine cleaning is no longer the correct or appropriate mode of treatment. Regarding your claim that Susan planned to perform treatment without telling you the cost - We have strict protocols in place to prevent any treatment from being started without 1. Consent forms and 2. treatment plan presentation for patient approval. We invite you or your boyfriend to call us with any further questions or concerns. We appreciate the feedback and hope you find a dental home that suits your needs.

I need more than 5 stars for my dental hygienist Susan/Susanne/Susie.
I forgot her real name because by the end of my visit she was AUNTIE! She was/is the ABSOLUTE Sweetest person I have ever met in this office. I have been coming to this dental office since I moved in 2014 to Texas in the Arlington location. True enough the overall staff is friendly, but AUNTIE SUE made me feel like family. When i really like you, i automatically put you on my family tree ?. Lol....
Never met her before and she just so happen to be in the Arlington location this particular day, but her home office is Irving/ Las Calinas. I needed a deep cleaning and time only permitted for one side. So they asked could I come back tomorrow to finish the (right side). I said sure, what time does Susan work. That's when they informed me she was only in Arlington for (that day) and she will be back in Irving/ Las Calinas. Well guess what I said! I told them to book me for Irving/ Las Calinas location.
True enough it was a difference in mileage and gas, but she was so kind, so patient with my X-rays ? and asked questions before, during and after I had to follow her like a little lost ? puppy. She made me feel comfortable than I have ever been. I left out with more knowledge than I have ever had in all my visits since 2014. She is a JEWEL and you guys are beyond lucky to have her. Shout out to Mary at the front desk in Arlington for working out the insurance coverage. Another special shout out to Jean Paul for his professionalism when it was time to check out and make my 6 week follow up at the Irving location. Ohhhh yes I how could I forget. They were out of a numbing topical that help aides the gum for deep cleaning procedures and he drove all the way over to the Arlington location from Las Calinas to grab some just for me. Talk about going over and beyond. They did all that just so I would not have to be injected with a needle ?. I would have took the the needle but the fact they did not want me to speaks volume in my book!

On random Sat in March 2024, my daughter had tooth pain. Smiles was open and took us in. Not right away but same day. Great experience. Her insurance didn't cover it so we paid about $150 out of pocket for the exam and x-ray. Turned out to be her wisdom teeth coming in. They issued couple prescriptions. I believe their oral surgeon cost would be about $3,000 to remove all 4 with insurance. We ended up downtown at Texas A&M Dental School formerly Baylor Dental School and cost with insurance was about $400.

Although the customer service and the staff was amazing I was very disappointed in the cost. The doctor quoted me a reasonable amount for the job I needed and I asked if I can get a quote for just the uppers and then at a later time do my lowers. The doctor said that's fine and was told that was normal and she would have someone come in with the quote. It was really disappointing when I was quoted double for just my uppers.

I was very disappointed by my experience. For my visit, I received a root canal/gingivectomy and later a crown. During my actual root canal, I told the dentist I was feeling pain mid procedure, expecting more numbing. She told me they were almost done and continued. This was actually the most painful dental procedure I've had and I have had a root canal before. After the root canal was completed, I was sent off without pain medications or recommendations besides gargling with salt. Next day I had to call the office to ask for medicine because my tooth was so tender. I can only say I appreciate the dentist reaching out to me directly after I called. Anyhow, days later I returned for my crown, the dentist who performed the procedure was not there so another dentist saw me. Everything was fine until the crown was placed and cement was stuck between my teeth. The dentist attempted to remove it, but eventually left and told assisting staff to fix this as she had other visits. It took three staff members to finally remove the cement. The dental hygienist then came to remove additional cement, also painful. After the hygienist concluded, she attempted taking an x-ray, but nearly took pictures without a lead apron until I mentioned it. What I was told would be a 30 minute visit for the crown was over an hour due to these issues. Today, it's been three weeks. I still have had ongoing pain and called the clinic to have the tooth assessed, the scheduling staff then told me if any other tooth is bothering me when I visit I will have to pay $150. I tried to explain I only want the root canal checked out, but she did not relent. Overall, I have had a very challenging experience dealing with this office. Care coordinator John was helpful, but I would not recommend this location if you don't like pain.

It's a bad experience for me. I have scheduled an appointment for the deep cleaning, and I have checked-in on time, but I had to wait one and half hours outside at the reception and later the doctor started the deep cleaning and suddenly stopped in the middle and moved to other patient and again she came to me after 30 minutes and finished the rest of the cleaning. (I have spent 3 hours for 20 minutes cleaning) They will suggest invisalign for each and every single patient. If someone wants a good experience, then I would suggest looking for some other dental doctor.

I chose Dr. Zamora/this location in Las Colinas for both my husband and me based on the following: 1. In network 2. The favorable ratings outweigh the lower ratings 3. Last minute, end of year had to use benefits before new year 4. Close to my home 5. I was impressed that most of the online lower rated reviews received a reply, and a plan of correction was offered by calling the office to discuss the issues further My husband is very hesitant when it comes to visiting the dentist’s office because of past experiences. I typically will go to his appointment with him and to kind of clarify services/procedures that are ‘suggested’, make sure insurance benefits cover these procedures as well as help him with the medical terminology. Regrettably, I was not able to make the first office visit with him. My husband was overjoyed when he left the visit, he called me with extreme happiness! Which is why I went ahead and made MY appointment. Pros: 1. Very kind, happy, and patient staff 2. Clean 3. Appear to work well as a team 4. Staff were very respectful of my special healthcare (Vertigo) needs during my visit 5. Front office staff person x2 was very very very open with EOB and transparent with costs! PERFECT 6. Dental hygienist was on point! 7. Explained everything they were going to do and why Cons for me only: 1. Staff explained to my husband that there was a payment plan, however, were not specific that it comes from a third-party and pending credit approval (I had to phone the office the day of his appointment to clarify) 2. For my appointment, I was given an etiology for my oral issues and correction plan/services needed however, not given or asked if I had any questions for home care for my specific oral hygiene. In the medical field for 33 years myself, irrespective of the patient’s education or experience level, Patient education is important to me. In their defense, however, communication goes both ways and personally I feel I should not have to, but I could have easily requested aftercare instructions/suggestions until my next appointment. I will return in a few weeks for a cleaning and feel confident in the staff to inquire and consider several other procedures, both dental and cosmetic. Hopefully my review will not be seen as a personal attack but rather as a reminder of how important patient experience and education is. Not only did it take a month to finally get them, they ordered the wrong one!! I have to wait an additional 2 weeks! MY TEETH FEEL AND LOOK AMAZING!!!!! I would give this office 10 STARS if I could! Everyone was so kind and helpful! Melissa and John were able to get me scheduled on short notice with no dental insurance coverage. Had to change my review. Now I did have a great experience I had 0 pain getting my deep cleaning. But it has been months and I cannot enjoy eating at all. No matter what temperature my food or drink is my teeth hurts and are sensitive. I can’t bite anything and even after they supposedly fixed me bite to be even on the left side of my mouth I still can’t use either side to bite simple things. Even the teeth I didn’t get fillings are now sensitive that wasn’t before. I thought it was a temporary feeling as they advised me but it’s been months now and I have no relief. I regret ever going there I just want to be able to eat and drink in peace ? It’s so stressful and it’s to the point where I just have to skip eating because my teeth hurts. My 15/18yr old son got fillings and a regular cleaning and there teeth are fine and can chew anything. I’m not sure if my deep cleaning was down correctly and I believe they had a different person that cleaned there teeth. I hate this feeling because it’s stressful and I cannot eat.

I had a great experience at this facility. I had been in pain for two week taking massive amounts of Tylenol and Ibuprofen every four hours with only minimal effect. I was referred here for a root canal and was in and out in less then an two hours. I had no pain and none of the complete loss of feeling from being jacked up on Novocain. I went home and took a nap and woke up with zero pain and haven't felt a twinge of pain for two solid days now. Extremely happy with the skill and professionalism from this clinic and Dr Zamora!

I did not enjoy my experience at Smiles Family Dental. I had been going to a dentist in Garland for several years or using my dentist sister whenever I could ( she lives out of state). My dentist in Garland was excellent and mainly concerned about providing me with the best dental care she could afford. Unfortunately, after Covid, she decided to retire. In any case, I had been shopping around for a new dentist in Las Colinas since I live in the area. I’ve found Smiles FD and was initially impressed with their booking system - you could do it on line by choosing a doctor and looking at his/her calendar availability. I was able to book an appointment just the day prior - truly impressive. On the day of my appointment, I got there on time and taken inside with very little wait - very impressive also. That’s when things started to go downhill. The hygienist that saw me first was very nice and pleasant, however, it didn’t seem she was very experienced. She was a little too rough on my mouth which was a little sore the next day. My old dentist would do the cleaning herself (which I don’t expect every dental office to be the same) but she was very gentle with her hands. Then they brought in another person to do the 3D scanning of my teeth - I overheard that the first hygienist was not very experienced using the scanner. At the end of the scanning the same person was trying to sell me braces to correct my bite and teeth alignment. After that, the dentist actually came in to evaluate my teeth. For my surprise, the dentist that came in was not the same dentist I had made an appointment on line with so I was a little disappointed. After that evaluation, another hygienist came in to redo some of the work done by the first one and at the end of that session she was trying to sell me some deep cleaning service. She was about to get started on the deep cleaning and I had to stop and ask her how long it was going to take - at that time I had already been there for over 2.5 hours. She said she was going to take about 2 hours. Wow, not even mention about the duration or cost or anything about the procedure. I had to go back to work so I could not stay for another couple of hours. In any case, I left that dental office with the impression that they were more concerned about doing marketing pushes more than anything else. I think business should always strive to improve their bottom lines but could they be a little less blatant? I miss my old dentist.

They're accommodating with scheduling and generally pleasant. However, appointments last WAY too long. Too much scanning at every visit; too high touch. A simple cleaning takes more than an hour. Too many different dental assistants and some are not great. This is a one stop shop which is convenient, but not always what's best medically. It's ok to refer patients to specialists. Dentists need to emphasize patient comfort (don't ignore me when I indicate you're causing me pain repeatedly) over upselling ad hoc services (laser for wrinkles).

They do good work. It’s clean, close and convenient. But after two years of going there I am always left feeling beat down and like I am leaving a car dealership. It’s constant sales from everyone, the hygienist, the insurance person, and the dentist herself. I’ve been told I need this and need that. I’m a 40some year old woman with satisfactory teeth and a decent smile. Yet twice now I’ve been told I need Invisalign. How “beneficial and critical” it would be to my overall health. Yet my dental insurance won’t cover anything due to it being cosmetic. I was there for 2 hours yesterday, and 30-40 mins was because I had to let them conduct a scan and talk to me about how I need a $6500 procedure. They do good work and are professional. But I cannot handle the sales tactics. It’s nerve wracking enough going to the dentist. I don’t need the added pressure and am seriously considering looking for a new dentist for this very reason.

DO NOT choose this place as a Dental provider if you care for your well being and your family members. I decided to go with these guys for getting my wisdom teeth removed. It was decision I have ever made in my entire life. When I was sitting in the patient’s chair. The Oral Surgeon came and asked me how I was doing. I told him “I was nervous” HE said “ME TOO”. I had a nervous chuckle and then he said “It’s the truth and truth hurts.” The surgery was over and I went home.” Came back for a follow up a week later. The dentist who saw me then said I was recovering well and stated that I need to start working on opening my mouth like “AAAAAH”. I was doing just as she said when all of a sudden I started bleeding profusely one day. One of the areas where the Oral Surgeon took wisdom tooth from, the dissolvable stitch opened and the wound opened up. I called Smiles Family Dental after hours number and the nurse on call said to me “that’s normal” and she will try to get in contact with the Oral Surgeon. Literally hours went by and no one called me back. I had to run to an emergency dentist who cleared the blood clot and did sutures in the area. I ended up spending $400 at the emergency dentist. I had to keep my mouth shut for a week, I couldn’t do anything around the house, I had to take a week off of work. After I recovered, I visited Dr. Zamora and told her about everything that happened. She basically didn’t admit that her staff or the Oral Surgeon did anything wrong. The tooth next to my wisdom tooth had a cavity and the Oral Surgeon didn’t bother to tell the office that I had that cavity. I sent Dr. Zamora the X-ray and ask them why the Oral Surgeon didn’t tell you guys about the cavity. They said “he was just their to remove the wisdom teeth.” This office caused a lot of misery to my entire family and I. if you want to live a happy life, DO NOT VISIT THEM.

I've been seeing Dr Zamora for years, but recently switched from the Arlington to the Las Colinas location, to be closer to where I now live. I've always had a great experience with Dr Zamora, but I've never had a great experience with a particular hygienist until I came to Smiles of Las Colinas. I used to hate my routine cleanings because they would hurt and I'd leave with my mouth feeling more sore or sensitive than before I went in. Michelle truly has the magic touch - she was quick but thorough, and genuinely friendly. This was my first cleaning with her, but she made me feel so comfortable, it was like I'd been seeing her all along. The rest of the staff is much the same; if you want a friendly but professional experience where you are made to feel like family, make your appointments here!

When the office called me back for appointment confirmation, they took all my insurance information and told me that they will call me back, if they have issues with my insurance. But they did not, they did not even tell me at the time of check in also. They told me after I was x-rayed and all the checkup is done before they begin my procedure. I told them please call my insurance and verify, which they did and were told that my insurance doesn't cover them. I was told about about my out of pocket expenses at that time, which I denied, they said they were in call with my insurance, but they were more eager to get me out of there than talking me through this. Really disappointed with the kind of treatment I got when I went in, and when they came to know I won't go for out of pocket expenses.

I can’t give even 1 star as It’s a fraud dental hospital.but, there is no option of selecting no star. I have been told that they are going to do laser teeth cleaning and cost would be around 4000$. I have accepted it and excited how laser teeth cleaning would be. But, on appointment day they started doing regular deep cleaning it would only costs around $400. When I questioned them , they are answerless. They are cheating the patients by name of the laser treatment. Please be aware of it and very cautious about what treatment they have planned and what they are treating.

Poor experience. 1st time customer (also moved my family to this provider) had problems with billing and charges since day one. Had to constantly call back for follow up since no one ever did. I understand people have days off, but as a customer I don't know your schedule, I just know I haven't received a follow up call. Spent an hour in office going over charges and 1 1/2-2 months later had to call again since services were still not submitted correctly. Staff is very nice. It is a shame of the poor experience, doesn't ensure me things will not be a headache next visit so probably would never return to this provider.

Once again Dr. Zamora has gone above and beyond to help me. I asked for something she didn't have and she ordered it in for me (an a.m. realigner for the Somnomed for sleep apnea) and fitted it to me yesterday at no charge. She even made me two of them. It is by far better than the cheap on the original sleep specialist had made for me. I love Dr. Z and everyone I have recommended to her feels the same.

This place only cares about money and not the wellbeing of their clients. I made an appointment and upon showing up, no one had any record of it. They price gouge you for every little service to maximize your dental insurance payout which increases your out of pocket ecpenses. I made the mistake of letting my mom go too and even after she stated she only wanted services covered by insurance, she received a hefty bill for hundreds of dollars in the mail weeks after stating they made an error in what and what was not covered. I will never return or let anyone I know even step foot into one of her offices.
