I've never had a more thorough, educational, careful/conscientious, and thoughtful dentist visit in all of my life. Dr. Kandar took a great deal of time being thorough with my teeth. He was incredibly educational about new dental techniques/technology/scientific understanding and presented several options for a path forward for the future of my teeth. You know the bright light they shine onto your face at a dentist appt.? I was given sunglasses so that I wasn't blinded; that is incredibly conscientious service. Had gone in looking to fix a broken filling. Instead spent two hours doing X-rays and taking photos, followed by 40 min of the Dentist lecturing and fear mongering me, telling me I need to get a ton of unnecessary work done like Invisalign(despite already having braces before and wearing my retainer), prescriptions, extra fillings, etc. I had just gone to another Dentist one month prior and was told my teeth were in great condition, so I know what he was saying at this office was mostly exaggerated or a scam. Had just wanted to get something simple fixed but ended up spending two hours getting yelled at and made to feel bad so that I would buy in. Nothing I wanted to get fixed got fixed and it was a complete waste of time.

UNO’s team has made my dentist anxiety disappear. I haven’t always had great experiences with dentists, but the care they deliver is exceptional. These folks are the BEST!! I’ve been helped by both Dr. Kandor and Dr. Mack. Both are brilliant, talented dentists with fantastic staff and modern technology. I started here because I needed an emergency root canal (a filling fell out). They addressed my original concern and put me on a path to better health. I really can’t say enough good things about these two. Anxiety relieving bedside manner, accommodating staff, fantastic FAST service, they’ve got it all. If there is anything wrong with your teeth, START HERE. Ohh and the best part: NO PAIN. I’ve had several procedures with them, and its clear they don’t believe in pain. And you don’t leave swollen and numb for days. In fact I’ve gone directly to TacoTuesday afterwards… no problem.

First time here and it went well. After doing x-rays so that Dr. Aghiad could get a better view of what was going on, he was able to make some suggestions on what we could do besides a regular cleaning. Since I’m in between jobs, Dr. Aghiad understood where I was coming from so that was very considerate. Dr. Aghiad has a passion for this and really wants you to be knowledgeable on how to take better care of your teeth.

I had a really great first visit with Agihad. He sat down with me and broke down what he's seeing based on my x-rays, dental treatment history, and his own examination for at least 30 minutes - and while that sounds like a lot, it was very helpful in understanding what changes I need to make to oral health routine and why. Overall, I got the vibe that the people at the office were generally good people and I'd happily go there again.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this unfortunately felt worth sharing: I went to this dentist and they quoted me a price to fix three cavities that was 10 X higher than the second SF dentist I went to (both took my insurance at the same %). The second dentist also said I did not have any cavities… I would be incredibly careful here and make sure to get a second opinion. The space was pretty, the people were polite and the cleaning was fine. I would just be careful on being wildly overcharged.

Friendly Staff, Nice Office… That said, Uno Dental is tremendously incompetent with any and all insurance related matters. Despite having dental insurance, and being told I have coverage for the procedure that took place (root planing/deep clean) I had to pay full out of pocket. The procedure itself is 2-3X more expensive than what other dentists charge. Based on the other reviews here, it sounds like I’m not the first to encounter this. Don’t trust them.

painless professionals A great and caring team!

This is the first bad review of a business I've ever written. I originally started coming to this practice 5 years ago when it was owned by Dr. Rodriguez. Note that most of the positive reviews are for his practice, not the new owners who operate under Uno Dental. Unfortunately, this practice has a practice of egregious over-treatment. On my first visit, I was charged $1600 for a deep cleaning and then was told I was going to need 10+ new fillings to replace the ones that the previous practice had given me just 3 years earlier (apparently this is a common way for dentists to extract money from new patients). I agreed to redo fillings in one quadrant of my mouth, but I had to request the use of a rubber dam (which should be standard practice for such a pricey dental practice) and ultimately found that the fillings were too tight and didn't fix all of the sensitivity I was experiencing. When I asked why I needed so many new fillings anyway, the dentist told me it was because my teeth were misaligned and...wouldn't you know, they had a special on Invisalign that month. I'm all for paying a solid chunk of change to get the right high quality dental treatment, but this practice is an extortion racket with unimpressive actual dentistry.

My first appointment with Uno Dental surpassed my hopes and expectations. They installed my new crown perfectly and I couldn't be happier with the result. In addition, I am indebted to them for enlightening me with a thorough explanation of what their exam, the x-rays and the photos revealed. I feel great confidence in both Doctors and feel lucky to have discovered them. I'm looking forward to continuing work with Uno Dental!

Unfortunately Dr. Rodriquez left the office and what is left there now is a disaster. The new dentists got rid of a wonderful a competent staff that not only knew your name but handled the office procedures immaculately. Let’s start with the fact that they are two brothers one a dentist the other one I don’t know if he has completed a Dental degree. Calls I got: First call received claiming a owed $100 so I went to the office because I don’t play with bills and they corrected there mistake. Now I receive a call claiming I now owed $12,000. The lack of experience compounded by the audacity to claim I owe 12k leaves me wondering whether they are scammers. My recommendation find another dentist I did.

I went to this dentist and had a great experience while there. The dentist advised I needed periodontal root scaling (aka deep clean). They indicated this was medically necessary and provided me with a fact sheet confirming that insurance would cover the cost of the procedure. However I have now had my insurance and 2 dental experts review my file both of whom confirm that the procedure was not medically necessary and therefore not covered by insurance. I am now out about $2,000. Careful about letting this dentist scam you into procedures you don't need and that insurance won't cover (even when they provide you written documentation that it will).

Beware: the vast majority of the reviews here are for a previous practice under Dr. Rodriguez who was an excellent and courteous dentist and ran a professional and responsible practice, which is no longer the case with Uno Dental. Uno Dental took over Dr. Rodriguez's practice last year and inherited all of his patients. When Uno's staff contacted me for an appointment for a routine cleaning, they were not upfront about their "fee for service" business model. I did not even consider that this is a business model that any dental practice uses, so did not think to check or ask. When I arrived for my cleaning appointment I asked if they needed to see my insurance. They assured me it would be taken care of and would handle it after the appointment, rushing to get me into the chair. During my visit, they tried to sell me on a "deep cleaning" and that's when I learned I would have to pay the entire amount out of pocket (100% of whatever they decided to bill) and that they were going to be charging me around $1600 for the deep cleaning and visit. I of course refused, but got stuck with a $600 bill for what ended up being a routine cleaning, exam, and imaging. I WAS NOT TOLD I WOULD BE PAYING THIS MUCH FOR A DENTAL EXAM AND ROUTINE CLEANING PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT. I've never once had to pay this much to see a dentist for a routine cleaning and check up before in my life. Nor did I feel that I received anything "above and beyond" in terms of treatment for the amount I paid. I left their office feeling angry, taken advantage of, and extremely disappointed that Uno Dental would take advantage of Dr. Rodriguez's former patients in such a manner. They are not in-network with Delta Dental PPO so I was only reimbursed a meager $143 for their over priced services. Please be cautious of this practice, they are not honest with their patients about their over priced charges when they walk in the door for the first time and are using the former good standing of Dr. Rodriguez to their benefit and to scam new and returning patients.

This new UNO dental office makes patients pay up front and promises insurance will reimburse customers directly even when they know it’s not true. I was a patient of Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Larson, and when the practice changed to Dr. Kandar I was never informed the patient cost would change. Completely misleading practice and would not recommend. (The only procedure I had since the transition did not go well either.)

To say that Dr. Kandar and Ms. Anna the hygienist are professional and friendly is an understatement. I am never disappointed in the quality of their work and how gentle they all are.

Everyone in this practice is attentive, willing to answer all questions, and able to help even those who have unpleasant memories of dentists past (for example: my roommate is HIGHLY phobic and they take every step they can to help her). They're very thorough and use a number of methods to plan out what you need to keep your teeth healthy. The products recommended to me for home care were available on Amazon and affordable. There weren't any pushy up-sales or scare tactics, just straightforward information about what's going on in your mouth. It's a refreshing attitude anywhere in the medical field, especially one most people consider a "vanity" rather than a necessity. But you only get one mouth, and the longer you wait, the more it will cost you in the end. Especially since 2020 more or less turned everyone into a jaw clenching and/or teeth-grinding sleeper. The best thing you can do for your teeth is to call and set up that appointment you've been putting off. Even if you break out in a cold sweat at the thought, you can be certain they'll take great care of you.

This dentist tried to scam me. They told me to pay up front right after my appointment even though I had checked beforehand that my insurance would cover it. They then said they'd have the insurance claim be sent to me within 2-4 weeks, but after 5 weeks I received nothing. Did they hope I'd forget about it? So I called the dentist back and they kept saying to wait, over and over again. After about 5 different calls to this dentist, they somehow realized that they had "accidentally" sent the insurance claim TO THEMSELVES. Talk about scamming. I still haven't gotten my money back and it's been about 2 months since I paid them. Suffice to say that I won't be returning to this dentist and advise everyone who wants an honest dentist to look somewhere else.

I've gone to this office for about 20 years, seeing my previous dentist for about 5 years. I came in to have my teeth cleaned. It was confusing to see the office bare of photos and a new person at the desk. Without a word of introduction she told me I had to pay in full to have my teeth cleaned because it was faster for the insurance company to pay me. This was irregular because I'd never had it happen in 20 years. Then my beloved hygienist, Carol, told me Dr. Rodriguez had sold the practice to Dr. Kandar who I'd be seeing. Perhaps Dr. Kandar is a wonderful dentist, but this completely unprofessional transfer, causes me to have concerns. To top it off, about six weeks later I get a letter from my insurance denying the claim due to the lack of information from the dentist office. This was all routine information only the dentist could provide. Suffice it to say I'll not be seeing this dentist again.

I had been going to Dr. Rodriguez for a couple years before he sold his practice to Dr. Kandar. Coming into my appointment I was under the impression that I’d be seeing my previous Dr. Rodriguez. However after my cleaning at the hygienist quickly let me know that I would not be seeing Dr. Rodriguez & that Dr. Kandar was now owner of the practice. This just felt a bit unprofessional to me. Once Dr. Kandar came over to take a look at my teeth I was told I had 4 cavities that needed immediate attention, this would cost me 1200 before my deductible which you are expected to pay upfront at your next visit. I had an uneasy feeling so I went to another dentist recommended by my friend for a second opinion who was shocked when I said I was told I had 4 cavities. It turned out I had NONE. All to say, I would have been out 1200 dollars until I got my deductible back and with the current times & being unemployed that would have made my struggle even harder. I feel as though this practice is unethical and not okay by any means. I trusted this place & feel as though they could have cared less. I hope this helps anyone who might be able to relate.

I really like this dentistry practice. I say "dentistry practice" to include everyone I've interacted with there, from Dr. Rodriguez who practices with an eye to prevention, to the rest of the team who take very good care of my teeth.

Awesome service. Had a really bad tooth pain that sent shocks up to my head and in turn gave me a massive headache. I was referred to this Dentist from a friend I work with and Chris showed same level of concern I had for this agonizing pain. He scheduled me that morning within the next two hours and fit me in between appointments. I really appreciated the empathy and the kindness throughout the whole office. Everyone was on point and very professional. Chris was very comprehensive when describing the process and what/why things needed attention. Over all I am very grateful that the stars aligned. Note: There are 3 different methods of payment using you insurance (Full Payment, Split into two payments, or a payment plan option).

Hands down the best experience at a dental office! From the beautiful facilities to the friendly and compentent staff I could not have hoped for more. Dr. Rodriguez took the time to review all imaging and answer every question. Carol gave the most pleasant and comfortable teeth cleaning. Erica took some expert x-rays : ) I have complete trust in Dr. Rodriguez and all of the amazing people working in the office. The experience was top notch! I've never had such a comprehensive exam coupled with a high touch experience throughout; such as a detailed walk through and explanation from Dr. Rodriguez and creature comforts available (e.g., neck pillow, blanket, headphones, and sunglasses). The team has been thoughtful about the entire experience and is intentional about making sure you feel comfortable, relaxed, and well informed.

I have been attending this dental location for 30+ years and have had the practice switch hands a number of times after my original, highly skilled dentist sold his practice 15+ years ago. I was skeptical when the practice changed hands once again within two years. I must report that I am delighted. What is very exciting to me, is that Dr. Kandar is a young dentist, though has plenty of experience, so he is up on the latest technology. Also, in this time of Covid, the office was over and above sanitary and I felt completely safe with how my dental treatment was handled. The diagnostics were superior and I could actually see why I needed the treatment. When the treatment was executed, it was done without an ounce of pain, even the next day my teeth were not sore which really surprised me. I also appreciate their membership which is very helpful since dental procedures are expensive and insurance is still in the dark ages. What I also loved, was the focus being on prevention, which is where it is at in my opinion. This leads me to Anna, the dental hygienist, who completely enlightened me on better ways to take care of my gums and my teeth and I thought I knew it all! Everyone in the office is professional, kind, supportive, and knowledgeable in their area of expertise. I am especially impressed with Dr. Kandar, he takes a lot of pride in his work. I felt like he was an artist, careful and accurate. And I must say that I am very, very happy with the two new crowns that I received. They look like real teeth! Though skeptical at first, I was delighted with my treatment. If you are looking for a dentist or are becoming discouraged with your current dentist, I highly recommend you give this dental office and their staff a try. I am sure you will be delighted you did.

Dr. Rodriguez and his staff are incredibly accommodating, kind and professional. I had somewhat of an emergency dental situation, and Dr. Rodriguez was able to get me in on an expedited basis, assess the problem and provide a temporary quick fix and propose a long term solution. Really great team and atmosphere in the surgery. As an Englishman with an enduring phobia of the dentist (and mild embarrassment about my teeth) Chris and his team where quick to get me settled and explain what would be happening and what I could expect. The hygienist did a cracking job as did Chris and Christine on my check up and were flexible enough to be able to start on some more extensive work. Would definitely recommend!

I am really impressed with this office. I've been a patient since the fall so I have been twice for cleanings and also had my initial new patient consult with Dr. Rodriguez. He was so thorough during my consult and I can tell he truly cares about his patients. The whole team is very friendly, professional and they all do a wonderful job explaining the procedures, going out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Carol is my hygienist and she's amazing! She always offers me a neck pillow, headphones and will even dab on chapstick when my lips get dry during my cleaning! I like that they have text and email reminders too.

Dr. Rodriguez is great. I was at his office a couple of years ago. He did a great job removing a molar. Now I'm back to finish my treatment. The ladies at the front desk are also very helpful. Great team all around.

Below is my new comment from 09/19/20. My old comment above is three years old. It had five stars. The new comment has one star only. I had been going to Dr. Chris Rodriguez, and Dr. Greg Larson previous owner, for over ten years before he sold his practice to Dr. Mohammad Kandar . Few days ago, I had my hygienist appointment. The first thing I noticed that all old employees were gone except one hygienist. After my appointment, I was seen by Dr. Kandar. He is a knowledgeable, neat and eloquent guy. I was told hat I would need a new filling. However, I saw Dr. Rodriguez few weeks ago when he assured me that I was just fine. It does not mean anything but I read a previous comment where a patient expressed the same concern. On my way out, I was seen by a new treatment coordinator whose name was Andy. He looks, speaks, jokes and acts like he is a parolee form one of the SRO hotels from the Tenderloin. I was informed that Dr. Kandar stop processing PPO and switched for 100% fee for service MOU and I need to pay full price for my appointment. I was told that I would need to deal with my PPO insurance on my own and they would mail me a reimbursement check in 24 days!? I was told to pay $410 for my visit. I refused and asked to see their fee schedule. It was none. Mr. Andy informed that he would clarify my fee with the doctor and would call me back later. It took several phone calls with used car dealership tactic trying to persuade me to pay inflated price. It was $410 after few phone calls it became $ 325 and finally we stopped at $ 155 for my cleaning. Again, I paid the full price and now I have to somehow receive a reimbursement check from my PPO in 24 days. It took couple of hours and few phone calls to finalize my fee. I asked Mr. Andy to email me their fee schedule, my bill and credit card recite. I have received none. Dr. Kandar is foreign dental graduate from Syria where he learned how to operate dental practice. This MOU does not work here.

Have had nothing but excellent dental work in my 10 years+ Simply Said a great team all around!

I first met Dr. Christopher Rodriguez at Mission Dental in ~2015, when he had a brief stent there. I was immediately impressed with his complete confidence and knowledge. I felt his approach and care for his patients was outstanding and earnest. When I found out he was no longer at Mission Dental and I was in need of an evaluation, I Immediately sought him out. I found out where he was practicing on Google! Thank goodness he was still accepting new patients. Having been a Mission Dental patient for over 10 years and after being assigned to over 6 different dentists, this decision was easy. My last dental visit this year was when I had a filling filled by a Mission Dental dentist. When it never fully healed I called the Mission Dental/Bernal Smile and informed the dentist that I was in pain. He told me he could not help me because they didn’t have an Endodontist staffed at Mission Dental now Bernal Smile. I was told that I would have to seek an outside person, so instead of using their referral I looked for Dr. Rodriguez. His office was able to fit me in the same week and give me the reassurance I needed and the comprehensive care required. Never looking back, Rebecca

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Chris Rodriguez. I've experienced his supreme knowledge of general dentistry and endodontic therapy first hand. I've been witness to his gentle and able care, his excellent chair side manner and his superior patient follow up. I cracked a tooth, received a perfect crown but when my tooth began to die he gave me an emergency root canal and I'm officially pain free now! All within three weeks! He took the time to explain my options, configured me in the schedule and performed the endodontic procedure himself so I didn't have to switch dentists. My experience with Chris, Stella, and the whole staff was terrific. From the get-go, the communication and willingness to help was superb. When I finally arrived, I was impressed with the professionalism and comfort they provided. Finally when it came time to the actual work, I was very impressed with their ability to address my questions in a positive and professional way. I had not been to the dentist in 18 months and as a result had 4 cavities. Dr. Rodriguez and his team did a great job answering my concerns but I was even more impressed with how pleasant the actual procedure was! Hopefully I don't have cavities again, but if I do, I know I'm in great hands. Finally, their follow-up and genuine caring attitude solidified my belief that they run a great practice.
